Planning a bachelorette or girls trip to Sayulita? Sayulita has become one of the go-to spots on Mexico’s Pacific coast for exactly this kind of trip, and it’s easy to see why once you’re actually here. The town is small enough to walk everywhere, the beach and the boutiques and the bars are all within a few blocks of each other, and there’s enough going on — surfing, boat trips, yoga, spa days — that a group with different ideas of a “perfect day” can still spend most of their time together. Here’s how to plan a bachelorette or girls trip to Sayulita well.
Why a Bachelorette or Girls Trip to Sayulita Works
The whole appeal is the compactness. The town center is only a few blocks across, so once you’re settled in, you’re not renting cars or booking taxis to get from the beach to dinner to a bar — you’re walking. That matters a lot for a group trip, because it means the itinerary can stay loose. Someone can peel off for a massage while the rest of the group surfs, and everyone can regroup for dinner without any real logistics involved.
Activities Worth Planning Around
Sayulita’s main beach has real, rideable waves, and several surf schools in town run group and private lessons for complete beginners — a genuinely fun, low-stakes way to spend a group’s first morning together. Beyond the surf lessons, here’s what else is worth building a day around:
- A beach club day. Sayulita has a handful of beach clubs right on or near the sand where you can rent loungers, order food and drinks, and stay put for hours — an easy, no-planning-required way to spend an afternoon as a group.
- A boat trip to the Marietas Islands. Tour operators run half- and full-day boat trips out to the Marietas Islands for snorkeling and sightseeing — a solid full-day outing if your group wants one “big activity” during the trip.
- Yoga or a wellness class. Sayulita has several yoga studios and wellness centers offering drop-in classes, which is a nice way to counterbalance a few late nights, or just start a morning together before the beach.
- A spa afternoon. There are multiple spas in town offering massages and other treatments — worth booking a few days ahead in high season since the good ones fill up.
- Shopping the boutiques. The streets around the plaza are lined with clothing boutiques, jewelry, art galleries, and surf shops — a natural way to spend a slower afternoon browsing as a group.
Nightlife, Honestly
We’d rather be upfront about this than oversell it: Sayulita is not a big-city clubbing destination. There’s no strip of nightclubs here. What it does have is a genuinely good beach-bar and live-music scene — casual spots with craft cocktails, DJ sets, and live bands that run into the evening, plus a few more upscale wine-and-tapas bars if your group wants a dressier night out. If your group is picturing an all-night club scene, Puerto Vallarta is an hour away and has that in spades. If you’re picturing good drinks, good music, and a laid-back crowd that doesn’t require heels on cobblestones, Sayulita delivers exactly that.
Practical Planning Tips
Timing. The dry season, roughly November through April, brings the most consistently sunny days and is the most popular (and most expensive) stretch to book — especially over the holidays. The rainy season (May–October) trades a bit of afternoon rain for lower prices, fewer crowds, and, from June through September, some of the best surf conditions of the year. Either shoulder month, May or November, tends to be a good value trade-off.
Getting the group there. The nearest airport is Puerto Vallarta (PVR), about an hour’s drive from Sayulita. Most groups either arrange a private driver or shuttle in advance, or split a taxi from the airport — Sayulita itself is a walking town, so a rental car mainly adds a parking headache once you’re there.
One place vs. splitting into rooms. This is the biggest decision for a group trip, and we’d argue it’s worth keeping everyone under one roof rather than splitting across hotel rooms. It means one group chat instead of coordinating five key cards, a shared space to actually get ready together before a night out, and somewhere quiet to land afterward. That’s exactly the gap our Bachelorette & Girls Trip Villa was built to fill — the entire villa sleeps up to 8 guests, sits in a quiet part of town but still close to the center and the action, and has a private heated pool and garden terrace that’s genuinely useful for a group that wants downtime between going out. To be clear: we’re a private vacation rental, not an event venue — a comfortable home base for your trip, not a place that hosts parties on-site.
